Gospel Market in Remembrance of 9/11

Tallassee, Alabama - September 11, 2010 - This event is free and open to the general public.

The Tallassee Farmers' Market will present a special "Gospel Market," Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 8:30am to 10:00am. The event will provide the Community with a opportunity to come together through live, inspirational and patriotic music and song, and two moments of silence and reflection, at 8:37am and at 9:28am, to pay respects to all who were lost and/or otherwise affected by the events of 9/11.

The event's coordinator,  Farmers' Market Manager, Tripp Storm, says, "Our pause is not for embracing Despair and Fear, as the cowardly acts of terrorism on 9/11 were designed to do but rather, we pause, unified and determined to continue as a Nation of People that cherishes Life and embraces the Freedoms so bravely fought for throughout the darkest times in History. We stand together and we are immovable."

Jan Davidson, the music coordinator for the event, will also be performing. Other performers include, Haylee Osborne, Karen Marks, James Bush and Rachelle Wallace.  Pastor Rick Dorley will lead the 8:37am moment of silence and Tallassee Mayor George McCain, will lead the 9:28am moment of silence.

Churches are encouraged to repectfully toll bells at 9:28 am, the time of the fall of the second tower of the WTC (World Trade Center, New York). Also, it is requested flags throughout the Tallassee area be flown at half mast for Saturday. The Tallassee Farmers' Market opens at 7:00am to 11:00am and is located on The Green at City Hall, 3 Freeman Avenue, Tallassee, Alabama 36078.
